I don't always love what Oprah loves but when it comes to The Model Bakery, I am joining her love and exclaim over this place, its people, its amazing flavors & textures, and the creativity that oozes out of every crook & cranny. We were in Napa for Bottle Rock and decided to join the comparatively small line of only 12-14 people one morning while walking around the Oxbow Market area. We both decided on The Original - Scrambled Eggs, Canadian Bacon, Mild Cheddar Cheese on a Model Bakery Hand-Griddled English Muffin. We were blown away by how just their take on English muffins (which we heard are their specialty) makes this ordinary-sounding breakfast sandwich worth every penny of the $12.50! Still talking about it to this day and it's been a couple of weeks. I wanted to go back and try their morning glory muffin along with the scones that looked absolutely spectacular but we never made it back - we will in the future. Stand in line! People watch! And make sure you thank every staff member for being so dedicated to their cause.
Their English muffins are amazing!!! Took em home and ate with butter. It's an English muffin/donut. Ok tastes better than it sounds. Fortunately, I hear there will be one opening up in Walnut Creek, so we can have them whenever we want.
THE ENGLISH MUFFINS!!! I truly didn't know I liked English muffins until I tried them from Model Bakery. You've never had a better, more buttery English muffin in your life! Our bed & breakfast served them in the mornings, and I ate one every breakfast during our trip in Napa. They were so good, that we ordered some for Christmas to be delivered for the holidays. They were a huge hit!
If you visit Napa, you need to stop here! On our annual girl's trip, this is the daily breakfast stop. The BFF gets the original and I switch around between the sausage, original and have gotten the BLT and subbed the house English muffin (extra toasted). The chocolate RAD cookie is another fav of mine. I got a few to take home. It's very chocolatey - it's like having a cookie and a piece of dark chocolate rolled in one. Don't be discouraged by the long lines, especially on the weekend - it's worth it! If you want to take home 6 pack(s) of English muffins, save room in your luggage and order in advance. They do run out early on the weekends. Regardless of how busy they are, everyone is helpful and all smiles.
We had to stop at Model bakery during our trip to Napa. We came around brunch time, and there was already a line outside the store. The wait to order was around 20 minutes and another 10 for our food so not bad. The store is quite small, and there is not much space inside. Most people wait outside for their order and try to find seating. It is outdoor seating, first come first serve. You may be standing a while before you can claim a table. The employees are nice and took our order quickly. I got the croissantwich ($12), which was a solid break fast sandwich. It wasn't totally amazing but did its job and was enjoyable. My boyfriend got the original ($11.50) breakfast sandwich, and he enjoyed it as well. It was served on their famous english muffin which was indeed great. We also got the model wrap ($14.50) to go for a snack later, and that was really good. The best item we ordered and a great snack after getting tipsy from the wine tours. The cinnamon roll was alright, a little too firm for my liking. The vanilla latte was good, pretty standard. Overall, this bakery is practically a landmark in Napa. Very popular, and everyone that comes up here goes. Everything was satisfactory! We'd come back again to try the english muffin on its own. I don't think we tasted its full potential with the sandwich. It's really nothing special, but definitely give this place a try.
Every time we come to model bakery, we stock up on so many English muffins. I packed my suitcase with four of the 6 packs. Yes that means I left half my bag open just to bring the deliciousness home. They also have amazing breakfast burritos, and croissants and desserts and coffee. It's got a nice clean ambience as well and the staff is nice. Not overly nice but friendly.
A must try if you're ever in Napa CA. This english muffin is crispy and buttery on the top and fluffy on the inside. The smells is so mouth watering and honestly it is delicious when hot I wish to have been here when the baker started baking early in the morning. The smell of fresh baked bread is so enticing and especially butter bread.. mmmmmmm!!! I recommend you to try. It is in Opera's Favorite Things list.
Model Bakery... these will be the best English muffins you've ever had. GUARANTEED! They've even been featured on Food Network! NOBODY should be giving Model less than five stars!! Period. End of discussion!! Model is located off 1st and McKinstry in the Downtown Napa area. The bakery is adjacent to the incredible Oxbow Market. Model does have a parking lot, but the lot is small and there's typically little to no availability. I'd recommend parking on the street or in the "Oxbow Lot." Or even better, walking (if you're a tourist and lodging Downtown). Moreover, I hadn't had Model in YEARS. I know, very sad and silly of me. However, my wife and I decided to trek up to Wine Country this past weekend for some tastings and delicious food! So Saturday morning when it came time for breakfast ideas, we both clamored for Model! I arrived at 9:45am Saturday morning (Feb. 3, aka Post-Groundhog Day). There was a line out the door! I guess I didn't realize that the San Francisco Giants were having a Fan Festival that same day in Downtown Napa across the street! That's what I get for being a (now former) Oakland A's fan. Every other time I had been to Model it had been busy, but never THIS crowded. But as I mentioned before, the reason for the crowd made sense! I waited in line for about 15 minutes and it moved relatively quickly. Once at the front of the line I decided to grab a half dozen English muffins (minimum order amount) and their Veggie breakfast sandwich. This comes with a fried egg, hash browns, avocado, tomato, ketchup, and mayo on... you guessed it, their infamous English muffins! After ordering I waited about 10 minutes for my Veggie breakfast sandwich to be made. Due to the crowd that was there for the Giants, I waited outside and they brought the sandwich out to me. I then hopped in my car and drove back to our hotel (I definitely could've walked, but my wife and I had wine tasting to get to)! Upon arriving back to our hotel I took my first bite... HEAVEN. Even BETTER than I had remembered!!! These English muffins are INSANELY delicious! Like a symphony of flavor! Buttery, soft, flakey... there's nothing else like them! These aren't your boring, store-bought English muffins... these things are saucer sized! Even plain, just add some jam or some butter on top... GAME OVER. My wife and I were sad when our breakfast was finished! As others have mentioned, you need these English muffins in your life! There's a reason why people get these FedEx'ed to them across the country. So next time you're in Wine Country come grab some HEAVEN and take it with you around Oxbow Market. Then go glab a glass of wine (or two...or three) and enjoy your time in Napa (or the surrounding area)!! Trust me. I wouldn't steer you wrong. MODEL = "GOAT" ENGLISH MUFFINS.
